Getting in the Mood

'Its not just sensible but fun to look around the world for some good dose of inspiration'

As much as i love colours, I have realized that deriving at a palette is turning out more satisfactory than anything else! I explored many different ways of showing clients a particular mood set for their decor. Here are a few-

Colour me Blue

''That which exists best in the world...the colour of all colours, the bluest of all blues'.- Pablo Picasso
I have always grown up with blue being my favourite colour! I am sure many did.
In interiors, decorating with blue can be tricky sometimes with the choice of wood that we use in India. Undoubtedly white is the best combination with blue. Being a cool colour, it gives a feeling of calmness & restfulness. Hence, traditionally it was considered to be a very bedroom colour. If we go beyond this mode of thinking, we will see that there is a wide range of options possible with blue. Its interesting to observe how people in the west use this colour famously anywhere in the house. Latest observation from Sex & the City 2 (the apartment which served as a temporary break for all the girls); loved that blue to the core.

Few cool things about blue which should not be missed-
1. Pale blue has an effect to make walls recede and makes a room look large.
2. Blue is a universal favourite and has a claming appeal. Use it wherever there are negotiations to meet.
3. Electric blue goes amazingly well with industrial materials for a modern look, because it feels like a high-tech colour.
4. With blue, choose your wooden furniture carefully. Go for dark or light, avoid the in between shades of wood.
5. Dark blues encourages a peaceful night in bedroom. Must have for people who habitually take work home!
6. Turquoise and cobalt version of blue are some of the most priceless colours because they provide good saturated coverage when transferred into paint.

Here are some unconventional ways to use blue throughout home.

Movies with great decor

Lets admit it..majority of us are movie buffs! Some movies are a pleasure to watch because of the storyline, or the cast and many times for me its the sets! They look so amazing that you can't get enough of it. Lets look at some movies in 2009 which made a statement through design.

Wake Up Sid- One of my fav movies. Its adorable how konkona does up her small flat into her personal haven!
And also the messy room Sid lives in.

All the Best- Average movie- just a few comedy thrown here and there. But remember Sanjay Dutt's house shown in Goa with amazing landscaping done with all the flowers in the world and the warm yellow in the hall?Take a recap..

Paa- Movie was beautiful and so was the simple home where Vidya Balan stays. Very real, simple and nice :) Btw, i so love her mom in this movie!

Luck By Chance- This movie definitely had to be stylish because its Bollywood afterall! Like the overall screenplay of this movie.

Farhan is so cute in this pic! Couldn't stop from posting this!

Life Partner- Not a great movie But but but... some really good interiors! I accidentally watched this movie while surfing channels on TV.Liked the styling part of the movie.

And lastly, Avatar. I loved the 3d technology used. Pandora was picturesque and quite an imagination throughout the film. Superb use of colour.. pink never looked so good! Beautiful movie..

Ending this post with this serene and lovely pic..until next time...
